Joe Magnarelli Quintet

June 22, 2019, 7:30 pm

featuring Ralph Moore

Syracuse native Joe Magnarelli moved to New York City in 1986 and soon became a regular participant in the New York and international jazz scene. In 1990, Joe was a semifinalist at the Thelonious Monk International Trumpet Competition in Washington, D.C.. On his new album If You Could See Me Nowon Cellar Live, Joe pays tribute to composer/arranger Tadd Dameron, who Dexter Gordon called the “romanticist” of the bebop era. Magnarelli’s supremely swinging quintet features Anthony Wonsey piano, Dezron Douglas bass, George Fludas drums, and former Tonight Show, Horace Silver, and Oscar Peterson collaborator Ralph Moore on tenor saxophone.
