All About Broadway
June 15, 2019, 8:00 pm
Edmonton Vocal Minority celebrates Queer Pride with a musical visit to Broadway. 2019 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the uprising at New York’s Stonewall Inn. EVM pays homage to this milestone event with music from current and past Broadway shows that speak to the Queer identity.
Some of the music featured will be “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl; “All of Us” from Considering Matthew Shepherd; Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”; “My Shot” from Hamilton; “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman; music from Kinky Boots and Dear Evan Hanson; as well as Lady Gaga’s award winning hit, “Shallow” from A Star is Born. The concert will also feature EVM soloists reprising acts from the choir’s March cabaret.
EVM is thrilled to welcome back Darrin Hagen who will host the concert with his unique blend of humour and wit. Daniel Belland, EVM’s accompanist, will head up the band, and Paula Roberts will be conducting.
Edmonton Vocal Minority is a mixed-voice chorus dedicated to celebrating its Queer identity and entertaining its audiences. Membership is open to everyone who supports its vision without regard to sexual or gender identity.
