SUMMARY:Martin Kerr In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Martin Kerr sings what you’re thinking. A folk troubadour for the post-truth age\, Kerr is known for his poetic storytelling and soul-stirring voice. One of Canada’s leading protest singers\, he blends activism and artistry with a rare mix of compassion and courage in his 15th studio album Overdue for a Revolution. \n“I just try to be authentic and say what’s really on my mind\,” he says. “Sometimes that means helping people grieve\, sometimes it’s making them laugh\, and sometimes it’s challenging them to rise up. But I always want to leave people with hope.” \nThat spirit fuels his bold new album: a collection of protest songs and viral parody rewrites that speak to the crises of our time. Tracks like “Immigrants”\, “Workers (Can’t Afford a Home)”\, and “Overdue for a Revolution” cut straight to the heart of inequality\, solidarity\, and justice\, while “Thank God for Taxes” offers a witty but sincere reminder of how societies thrive when we invest in each other. First shared on his social media — where his protest songs and messages of hope reach millions worldwide — these anthems quickly struck a nerve and grew into a full record. \nKerr’s journey to protest songwriting feels like a natural step in a career built on human connection. From busking on Edmonton street corners\, to cracking the Canadian Top 10 with Better Than Brand-New\, to racking up millions of streams with You’re Amazing\, he has always followed his own path. During the pandemic\, he became a lifeline for his community\, performing more than 400 “Stay Home Street Concerts”\, possibly the most of any artist worldwide. \n“I’m just an ordinary guy trying to figure things out and make a song about it\,” he says. “But I believe music can unite us\, comfort us\, and give us courage. And right now\, we need that more than ever.”
