DESCRIPTION:Bio\n\nAround turn of the century in Akron\, OH\, two childhood friends regularly huddled around a rudimentary tape recorder and wrote songs. After more than two decades\, five GRAMMY® awards\, worldwide sales of 10 million-plus\, streams in the billions\, and countless sold-out shows\, The Black Keys—Dan Auerbach [vocals\, guitar] and Patrick Carney [drums]—still operate the same way. To this day\, the duo write\, record\, and produce music together\, jamming like no one’s watching\, disregarding the rules\, and following their own creative impulses without compromise. Since their inception\, they have consistently captivated audiences with seismic live performances and a fluid and fiery body of work. Following influential favorites such as Thickfreakness [2003] and Magic Potion[2006]\, they made waves with 2008’s gold-certified Attack & Release. DESCRIPTION:Flamenco dancers Claire Marchand\, Jane Ogilvie\, and Rosanna Terracciano have explored their own creative trajectories since meeting years ago as emerging dancers. Now\, as established artists\, each has played an integral role in establishing a Flamenco presence in Western Canada. Their paths have crossed as artists\, colleagues\, and friends in many ways over the years. \nIn 2023 they decided it was time to formally create a project where they would have the chance to collaborate. Their first project “Flamenco at the Yardbird” was presented to a sold out audience in 2024 with invited guests\, Vancouver Flamenco guitarist and dance accompanist Peter Mole and Spanish singer Celedonio Garrido. In 2025 they returned to the Yardbird for two nights\, with a new performance including returning guitarist Peter Mole and new guest Spanish singer/percussionist Francisco Orozco “Yiyi”\, taking the show on the road to their hometowns of Calgary\, Edmonton\, and Winnipeg\, to rave reviews. \nExperience the mesmerizing interaction of soulful singing\, intricate guitar\, percussive footwork and expressive dance of the Flamenco “tablao”\, with the special addition of flamenco piano. Expect the magical intensity\, improvisation and inspiration that can only be felt in the live encounter of flamenco artists.

Emerging in 1986 and led by fiery straight-edge vocalist \, the band’s longtime lineup has included guitarist Luke Pabich\, bassist Chuck Platt\, and drummer Sean “SC” Sellers. Beginning with 1995’s For God and Country\, the band carved out a respectable swath of sonic territory via standout outings like A Comprehensive Guide to Moderne Rebellion (1986) and Ballads from the Revolution (1998)\, before calling it quits in 2007. They reformed in 2012 and went on to issue a pair of well-received comeback albums in Peace In Our Time (2015) and Thoughts and Prayers (2019).

DESCRIPTION:St.Arnaud is the music of Ian (St.Arnaud)\, a project that balances buoyant\, wry storytelling with roots and early indie influences\, all wrapped in lively\, danceable arrangements. He is best known for his work as a children’s entertainer and advocate whose string of gold and platinum-selling recordings includes his iconic song\, “Baby Beluga”. Once called “the most popular children’s singer in the English-speaking world” (Washington Post) and “Canada’s all-time children’s champion” (Toronto Star)\, Raffi is also a recipient of the Order of Canada and the United Nations’ Earth Achievement Award. He has published three books for adults and holds five honorary degrees. He has never advertised to children or made any commercial endorsements aimed at kids. Merging polyrhythmic structures inherent in African music with elements of acid\, techno & ambient\, 2nd time in YEG! \n\n\n\n\nOKRA presents \nAfrorack \nBrian Bamanya\, known professionally as Afrorack\, is a Ugandan multidisciplinary artist\, engineer\, and musician who has pioneered Africa’s first DIY modular synthesizer. Driven by a passion for electronics and a desire to make modular synthesis accessible in Uganda\, Bamanya constructed his own synthesizer using locally sourced components and self-taught engineering skills. This innovative instrument\, also named “The Afrorack\,” serves as both his artistic moniker and a symbol of his commitment to blending technology with African musical traditions. He has appeared at several international festivals which include Sonar\, Rewire\, Elevate\, Dakar Art Biennale and CTM among others. In May 2022\, Afrorack released his self-titled debut album\, The Afrorack\, through the Ugandan label Hakuna Kulala. The album showcases his unique approach to electronic music\, merging polyrhythmic structures inherent in African music with elements of acid\, techno\, and ambient sounds. Tracks like “African Drum Machine” exemplify his use of Euclidean rhythm sequencing to create complex\, algorithmic patterns that echo traditional East African rhythms. The album was received with popular acclaim making it to several music writers’ best albums of 2022 including The Wire Magazine top 50 albums of 2022\, The Quietus best of 2022 and He has also been featured on the BBC world service radio. Afrorack’s innovative work continues to inspire a new generation of musicians and technologists\, bridging the gap between traditional African music and contemporary electronic soundscapes.

SUMMARY:The Stampeders
DESCRIPTION:‘They’re on their way\, to the city lights’ … and\, THE predominant Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll band of the 1970s – The Stampeders – are bringing along all their classic hits: Wild Eyes\, Carry Me\, Oh My Lady\, Devil You\, Ramona\, Minstrel Gypsy\, Hit the Road Jack and\, of course\, the quintessential Canadian – and Hall of Fame – song\, Sweet City Woman! A veritable soundtrack to a whole generation that will ‘carry you home’ … maybe not to Birmingham … but back to a time of tie-dyed  t-shirts and elevator shoes\, 15¢ coffee and homemade apple pie\, dating and dreaming … By the time The Stampeders get to the first chorus of the first song\, everyone will be singing along. \nNo seventies group represented Canada’s musical identity to the world like The Stampeders. A quick look at Canada’s music scene from 1971 until 1976 confirms The Stampeders were truly the country’s international musical ambassadors\, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time. In 1977 the trio: Rich Dodson (lead guitar)\, Kim Berly (drums) and Ronnie King (bass) parted company but reunited\, fittingly at the Calgary Stampede\, 15 years later in 1992. Since then they’ve been recognized by SOCAN for their Lifetime Achievement\, been inducted into the SOCAN Songwriters Hall of Fame on five occasions and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their 1971 seminal hit Sweet City Woman. \nIn March 2024\, just before the Ontario leg of this tour\, Ronnie King passed away. In the final days\, while in  palliative care\, he insisted that his band mates carry on.  Dave  Chabot\, renowned bassist and long time friend of the band\, who was already scheduled to be on the tour to sit in for Ronnie as needed\, was the obvious choice.  Still\, Ronnie remains a presence at every show\, as Rich and Kim share stories from 50 plus years on the road and pay tribute with a retrospective video. \nThe enduring musical legacy of The Stampeders  … One More Time … ‘better catch a noon train\, better get there for a rock ‘n’ rolling good time!’
