DESCRIPTION:With Guests The Surfrajettes \nThe Reverend Horton Heat is the stage name of American musician James C. Heath (born 1959) as well as the name of his psychobilly trio from Dallas. Heath is a singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist. A reviewer for the magazine Prick called Heath the “godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly”. \nThe group formed in 1986\, playing its first gigs in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood. The core members are Jim “Reverend Horton” Heath on guitars and lead vocals\, and Jimbo Wallace on the upright bass. The band signed to Victory Records in 2012\, and released its 12th studio album\, Whole New Life\, on November 30\, 2018. \nThe band plays rock and roll with influences from 1950s country music\, surf music\, punk\, big band\, swing\, and rockabilly standards.

DESCRIPTION:Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini bursts with energy and passion. It was an immediate hit with audiences. Joni Mitchell said\, “This piece sent me into raptures. To me\, it was a tender entreaty for the misunderstood.” \nKurt Weill—best known for The Threepenny Opera—called his innovative and tuneful Second Symphony a “symphonic fantasy.” It is a unique work of tremendous intensity by a rarely performed composer. \nRichard Strauss’ ultra-romantic tone poem Don Juan scandalized and delighted audiences at its 1889 premiere—never before had they heard such graphically suggestive music. \nThis concert will include an intermission. \n\nRACHMANINOFF\nRhapsody on a Theme of Paganini\n\n\nR STRAUSS\nDon Juan\n\n\nWEILL\nSymphony No. 2 “Fantaisie symphonique / Symphonic Fantasy”
