Murray Schafer\, describing a so-called ‘Canadian sound.’ For Schafer and many others\, it was a sound defined by space\, by the land and our distance from and proximity to it. For Harry Freedman\, it was “gaunt” and “lonely.” Elaine Keillor called it “immense\, empty\, mysterious\, harsh\, indifferent\, producing a response of awe mingled with terror and an intense sense of spiritual loneliness.” \nOn Wintersleep’s seventh full-length record\, In the Land Of\, this geography is both real and imagined. It is understood that our surroundings are not\, in fact\, essential or concrete elements they’re constructed in relation to us\, the inhabitants. Our identities\, too\, are constructed in relation to the land. The land\, both physical and figurative\, changes\, and so do we. Familiar land. Foreign land. Inhospitable land. Unceded land. Stolen land. Dead land.

DESCRIPTION:For over thirty-five years\, SAGA has led the way in music innovation and audience interaction. Throughout this time\, the band has released 21 studio recorded CD’s under the umbrella of major record companies and has filmed over 20 music videos. Saga has sold 10 million albums and performed in over twenty countries to over fifteen million people. The HELIX band was formed in 1974 in Kitchener\, Ontario. In 1979\, they released their own indie album\, Breaking Loose\, on H&S Records. H&S stood for HELIX and Seip. From 1983 to 1989\, HELIX would release four albums on Capitol: No Rest for the Wicked/Walking the Razor’s Edge/Long Way to Heaven/& Wild in the Streets. These albums produced the hits Heavy Metal Love\, Rock You\, Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’\, Make Me Do Anything You Want\, Deep Cuts the Knife\, The Kids Are All Shakin’\, Wild in the Streets\, and Dream On. In that time\, they also sold 2 million albums and toured with over 200 of the world’s greatest recording acts

SUMMARY:Lou Barlow
DESCRIPTION:Lou Barlow has been among the most powerfully distinctive\, influential\, and prolific figures in independent music since the 1980s. He was a member of three important bands\, Dinosaur Jr.\, Sebadoh\, and the Folk Implosion\, as well as making time for a solo career\, and the common thread between his contributions to all these projects come from his gift for penning simple but memorable melodies\, and his willingness to bare his soul and expose his insecurities. As a bassist\, he took a supporting role in Dinosaur Jr.\, as the leader of Sebadoh he was a pivotal figure in the lo-fi revolution\, and with the Folk Implosion he managed to land a single in the pop Top 40\, 1995’s “Natural One.” Though his proper solo career didn’t begin until the 2000s\, 2005’s Emoh and 2015’s Brace the Wave show he’s still in firm command of his style and his gifts \n \n
